Pros

Compensation is generally pretty good, but there is little upside potential. Even when the company was doing well and making numbers year-end bonuses were not very different than when things were just ok.

Cons

The place has gone stale. Despite some good leaders who try to break the mold, the majority of people focus on maintaining the existing businesses and make additional small changes to the existing businesses. If you want to be inspired to change the world everyday, it can be a difficult place to get that done. In some of the newer business lines, there is still a glimmer of energy and inspiration, but that is not the norm

Pros

Because software is Intuit's bread and butter, they respect and value their engineers and architects, unlike some other non-software companies. Although there is some drudgery, for the most part the work is interesting and there are opportunities to learn new things. It is a comfortable place to work and the stress level is lower than most other places I have worked. For instance, it is unusual to have to work evenings or weekends.

Cons

Sometimes the large company culture can be a little impersonal. The way each project is managed is really up to the individual managers, so your experience can be quite different, depending on what project you are on. Some are wonderful. Some are awful. There isn't a lot of bleeding edge work going on, if that is what you crave. In an effort to recruit new talent, sometimes they treat their interns better than their employees.

Pros

The benefits are very good, and the best in the area.

Cons

It's a very political organization. You need to kiss ass to move up in the company. Anyone who dares to disagree is seen as a trouble maker. Some people can be extremely unprofessional and rude. But they get away with it because they manage up well.
