Pros

Most employees are extremely passionate about decarbonization and the expansion of renewables. There is no questions that the company is cleaning up the grid and making a positive impact.

Cons

The social scene felt a little like a frat house. Most of the team bonding activities revolved around alcohol, and I overheard executives making disparaging/bullying comments about their peers and lower-level employees at company-sponsored events on several occasions. At least on my team, everyone at a manager position or above was a white male, and most of the entry level positions were filled by white women. Additionally, I felt the amount of respect given to any employee was solely related to the time spent at the company, and not at all to previous educational or professional experiences. I did sense that this "boys club" dynamic trickled down directly from Polsky's close knit top circle- I have so much respect for the women at this company who were able to push through to the top, but I personally do not have the patience to wait around for a major cultural shift that Invenergy is in desperate need of.

Pros

- Interesting industry. Learned a good amount - Met some smart, hardworking people - Decent happy hours outside of work - Decent Comp and benefits (Good bonus and excellent # of PTO days to make up for slightly lower than market salary),

Cons

- Very political and toxic culture - VERY cliquey- You're either in the "in" group or the "out" group - Very heavy work load, especially in Accounting and Portfolio Finance (Some due to turnover, some due to culture of "get everything 100% right" even if it's not material to do so...spending an hour to find $75 out of a million is not a good use of time) - Overall attitude of "That's not my issue" (Aka, very poor teamwork) - Very little career development for people in the "out" group - Have to be a loud mouthed demanding person who delegates everything if you want to get promoted. - Company posts fake reviews on glassdoor to make company look better than it is.

Pros

I've never worked for a company where the people are so willing to put in the time and effort to make things happen. They are truly the reason why this company is successful. The workforce is quite young, and very engaging and ambitious. Poor saps don't know any better...

Cons

Despite the 50+ VPs, there are only about 5 people that have real decision-making power. They love using the word "entrepreneurial", but it's only a buzzword that's used to recruit people that think they might actually be able to make real, value-driven decisions - it's a total farce though. I report to a VP, but I am constantly providing the same updates and info to the 3 VPs above my boss - and their directives to me often conflict with each other. This company "seems" interested in improving the work/life balance, but this campaign obviously takes a back seat to the pursuit of insane, unsustainable growth. Invenergy is a successful company ONLY because the rank and file do whatever it takes to make it so. I'm amazed at how people consistently put in 60hrs/wk for average industry pay (and it's average only if you max out your bonus). I can't count how many 9pm IMs and phone calls I've had with colleagues just because they happened to be working late along with me. And because everyone is willing to put in such an effort, it has become the expectation if you want a chance at moving up.
