Pros

Home every day (though only for 10 hrs.), newer (crap) equipment, technology oriented organization. I personally enjoyed the atmosphere at Brattleboro dispatch.

Cons

Management is unwilling to ensure resolutions to problems; my payroll issue existed for over 2 years before I left them. If they cared they could've gotten to the bottom as to the cause of the errors, but no, I finally had to move on myself. Really I think its a top down type problem with JB Hunt. This kind of complaint is somewhat regular as I understand it... I even went so far as to finally calling VT Dept of Labor about it after 2 years. Once JB Hunt learned of that, they stopped doing any payroll corrections at all until finally I gave up. At the time that I left JB Hunt they owed me over $400 that I'll never see.

Pros

The company is doing well. There's growth in the IT department.

Cons

The culture punishes those that step beyond their job descriptions. Management has a box, and you're meant to always stay in it. For those who like ownership and freedom, it's likely to feel like your hands are tied on most things. There's also a dice roll on whether or not your project/team will be a political windfall of promotions and easy work days, a tortorous 70 hour work week with no recognition, or just forgotten. The development cycle is painfully slow. If you're accustomed to hitting the ground running, you're in for a rude awakening. There's an incentive structure that encourages you to let something break, and then be the hero to fix it, rather than to prevent the break in the first place.

Pros

Steady income, management can be helpful at times.

Cons

Work overload, not enough help, not enough off time & when you are off, they expect you to log in from home. Director & above doesn’t listen & some have no clue. Promoting people who does not have a clue nor deserves it.
