In the beginning, this job was perfect. When there was a shuffle in management, everything ceased being so. The new Senior Field Service Manager decided that two technicians was enough to support 300+ machines spread out across North America, plus a new product line. He bases this on the fact that my division has a few weeks per year where work slows. The rest of the year we work 70-90 hours per week and largely away from home. I’m burned out, mentally and physically exhausted and ready to leave. This is unsustainable. My coworker lost 2 weeks of PTO because the “business wouldn’t allow it” and this manager, quite literally, shrugged and said “I lost 4 weeks myself” as if that wasn’t his choice and like it was something to be proud of.
