Pros

You can be involved in anything you want from specification write up to development to testing. You're given free reigns to get projects done and see them through completion. Easy to take ownership.

Cons

Yearly raises can be a bit of a drag. In order to grow you have to be proactive about showing the value you are bringing to the company.
