High Expectations with Little Appreciation

Pros

Excellent benefits for part-time and full-time employees- opportunities for growth and promotion are available meaning that when a position opens up, management looks to promote from within before exploring external options.

Cons

Communication between upper management is minimal; employees are expected to do everything and anything to make a sale, yet a thank you is rarely heard (genuine thank you's, that is). New addition of Sephora inside JCPenney is poorly intertwined- Sephora's great customer service and company values are not introduced to JCP management, therefore the partnership cannot fully be accepted by either side. Store Managers view associates as walking dollar signs, then place the blame on middle and lower level managers when associates turn.

Pros

JCPenney was very flexible with its scheduling. Also, not all of the customers were too bad. I enjoyed some of my co-workers.

Cons

JCP did not pay very well. The middle management was incompetent. There was too much gossip between workers and management.

Highly Unprofessional

Pros

Pay is decent as are the benefits. Most stores have numerous associates working under specific job titles for specific tasks ie: pricing and signing, swarm, replenishment etc. which allows most sales associates to focus on the customer.

Cons

Open door policy is a joke. The company Human Resources pay lip service to associate complaints and laying off over 2000 associates and managers so far this year while senior executives received multi million dollar bonuses make this a company to stay away from.
