Pros

First off, I love JM Family! I feel very lucky to be associated with an organization that treats people amazingly well and has invested millions into the community. My experience with the majority of the business has been A+. I really like working with the vast majority of the associates, as they tend to be respectful, kind, and considerate. The companies total rewards is amazing, could not ask for anything more. The organizations committment to the 3C’s is highly admirable. I feel humbled to write the pro’s because who am I compared to such a great organization.

Cons

I have found that competency can create tremendous competitiveness that manifests itself negatively. I perceive that the level of accountability is not consistent across the same job titles. My experience is that roles & responsibility are fluid and for the most part, you are just expected to do what your manager tells you - take a risk at your own peril and suffer the backlash. You have to really believe in an idea to be willing the resistance. Leaders are only managers and above. There is quite a bit of external ego at the middle management level. Makes it hard to work with and have to show proper submissiveness. What I wrote above is normal in most organizations - I hope for more out of JM Family.

Pros

I have worked at a few organization and JM Family is by far the best I have ever experienced. The compensation is competitive in the South Florida market and the bonuses are beyond anything I have ever seen in 15+ years working. Profit sharing and the retirement benefits are also top notch. Work/life balance was also another great plus of this organization. While there is a lot of tenure I felt welcomed into the organization from the beginning. I worked on a great team and built relationships with wonderful people. I will always remember this when I think back on my time at JM. Overall I feel the company is doing a great job and the values of Jim Moran have been upheld . I would not have left if not for relocation to another state. I now compare all employers I encounter to JM Family and I have yet to find one with as many positives! I hope to someday return to this organization.

Cons

There is very limited opportunity to advance because of the low turnover. Corporate politics can be challenging and sometimes discouraging for those who don't lobby for themselves or toot their own horn as much. Also the company was a little behind the times in regards to casual dress options and telecommuting/flexible scheduling options in some areas.
