Pros

As a huge company, there is opportunity for moving around if you search it out yourself. The benefits, while not as good as in earlier years, are still fairly good: four weeks of vacation if you're an officer plus two personal days plus standard bank holidays. The health insurance is expensive, but good.

Cons

The culture is very much about cost cutting, to the detriment of investing intelligently in the business to foster growth. Some of the senior managers are very political and while excellent at managing up, they are poor managers to those who report to them. It's amazing how some of these managers continue to survive in their positions.

Pros

JPMorgan Chase has great benefits. Salaried workers have twenty days of vacation. Career opportunities are plentiful if you are willing to learn new things and fit into the role. Great people to work with for the most part. Managers believe in the idea of work smarter not harder which is great. Communication is great, any concerns are handled by immediate manager, but having an open door policy is a great plus as well. Very knowledgeable workers makes working here easier and helps when trying to pitch new technologies or solutions as people are willing to try new things. Overall great company to work at.

Cons

Politics do come into play just like in any other work.

Pros

One of the most financially stable financial firms in the market right now. Good benefits and stable stock price. There is a good mentoring network available.

Cons

Large work force, stagnant/declining head count looming in the near future (similar across all large investment banks). Roll will most likely be very specialized within your line of business. Ideal employees should be very flexible with working long hours, even in basic/lower level roles. Even when times were good, being short staffed was the norm.
