Pros

Houston office works 4-10 schedule with Friday's off. Decent benefits: 401k with matching, high deductible health insurance with HSA, 3 weeks PTO. Mentoring programs for younger employees and those early in their careers. Older workers also valued.

Cons

Downturn in oil and gas industry has seen a lot of work going oversees to reduce costs. I've heard the outsourced work is subpar. Layoffs are ongoing as of early 2017

Pros

They are a prime government contractor in Tampa, so if you are looking for an intel or IT support job they will likely have something. Benefits are decent. HR is competent at taking care of all things that they are required by law to address.

Cons

While there are individuals in management at this company who are excellent, my review is of the company and culture as a whole. Jacobs in Tampa is a government contracting prime that mainly services contracts at MacDill AFB. They are, hands down, a 'butts-in-seats' type of operation meaning they will fill spots with sketchy and unqualified people making it hard for the producing employees to do their jobs effectively. Their company policies that tend to favor employees in the event of XYZ are littered with 'may' and 'could' so they can weasel out of doing the right thing if they so choose. It is hard to get management to respond to emails and any issues you have via the phone or personal conversation are met with vague dismissals and non-committal answers. The only thing I cannot comment on is if these issues are better or worse than any of the other contracting companies servicing military government contracts. If they have a job you want, you will get paid and have decent benefits, but don't expect to feel like they care for you as an employee or expect them to respond to issues in a timely manner--or at all. My advice: be the person who CCs HR on everything dealing with management, don't believe anything said to you by management that isn't in writing and don't expect them to stand by anything that is.

Pros

Great people in my office, excellent team atmosphere, decent flexibility. I worked here for years and would have happily continued if not for the lack of work.

Cons

Jacobs does not integrate their acquisitions well. Quality standards are lower than my former legacy company. Much internal confusion at upper levels in recent years. They are working on it, but it is a painful process.
