Pros

Excellent Ford work environment, excellent Ford Management. Work as a subcontractor at Ford Motor Company. Good way to get your foot in the door at Ford. 3 weeks paid vacation and all Ford holidays off with pay.

Cons

Horrible Jacobs managers. Very low pay rates, according to industry standards. Sub-par health benefits package with a very high employee contribution. Even once you have proven yourself to be an asset to the company, they refuse to pay employees accordingly. Jacobs management flat-out lies to your face without shame, and makes promises of raises or bonuses that never materialize. It is a constant "revolving door," with high turn over rates. Management does not follow it's mantra of "our people are our greatest asset." Jacobs management could not care less about its employees. I have seen great employees get treated horribly by Jacobs management because the supervisor was in a bad mood. If you get an offer from another employer, Jacobs will do little to keep you, maybe offer you $0.25 an hour to stay, when your new job will pay at least $5.00 an hour more than what Jacobs pays. Oh, by the way, overtime is almost non-existent. Good luck paying your bills if you take a Jacobs position.

Pros

I feel needed and appreciated at Jacobs. The pay is good, I get regular raises, and the management is very actively watching out for me. The contract I was on ran out and they carried me for about 6 months doing practically nothing until they found another position for me. There is a team of people who's specific job is to make sure that the employees have continuing employment from project to project, and another team who work dilligently to promote cooperation, participation, and communication between employees. There is a program called Beyond Zero, which means what if we had zero accidents but went beyond that and actively took care of each other. They are spending a LOT of money and time promoting us actively taking care of each other. I was skeptical at first, but it's actually working. The diverse work group is starting to feel like a team. The world wide management organization is starting to feel like a benevolent force rather than a numbers cruncher. I'm starting to believe the core value of "people are our greatest asset". They are doing a lot to make sure I don't look for a different job.

Cons

Much of the work is project work, which means that it will be completed and you will have a different project soon. This could be a con or a plus, depending... The medical benefits are not stellar. They are certainly adequate.

Pros

Salaried people can be paid OT. They will make...some...effort to keep you when there's slack work. Most of the workers are good people

Cons

Condescending management attitude Considerable nepotism Management strives to achieve zero credibility. The most well defined dividing line between the haves and the have-nots. And they love to rub it in.
