Pros

Exposure to petrochemical engineering field. Opportunities to gain field experience by working on multiple small projects for a single client.

Cons

No training provided to entry level engineers. There is poor communication between functional managers and project managers. Given the number of employees hired in the past few years, employees are not given any individual attention. You only have a job as long as there are man-hours available for you to charge too. If there is a slow-down in the industry you WILL be layed-off.

Pros

They will pay on the higher payroll scale, but benefits are reduced and you have to pay more for fewer benefits.

Cons

Reduced benefits. Is not and employee friendly company. "People are our greatest asset", only if you have a greater asset for the company. Upper mid-level managers will do or say anything to advance career. The only recognition you receive is when the manager needs to pass blame, when you do something good the manager takes credit. If you want to grow your career it will not happen, unless you are a "yes man" to your manager. This is the type of firm that will make you say "What am I doing here and how do I get out, can I get my old job back?"

Pros

There are some reasons that Jacobs Engineering is a good company to work for. There are plenty of locations either domestic or international in which to work if you do not feel like working at a certain location. There are plenty of different job classifications, and lots of different bosses or managers who have different dispositions. The opportunities are abundant for entry into the company. Jacobs could be a good company to work for if they promoted a little quicker, offered a little more money even if the clients do not agree and acknowledge accomplishments or strives of its employees.

Cons

I got pidgeon holed, did a good job but if I wanted to leave the location, no one else wanted it, so I could not go anywhere. I have heard that they are good to work for but the pay I received was not satisfactory. I told my supervisor about my feelings but he could not find anything in his area that would correct the situation. I dont know how hard he looked or if he looked outside his area to help me. I really did not feel "at home" at this company so I really needed to look farther in my search.
