Cons

If you don't get 'in' with the right managers this will be a dead end job for you. Fine if you need to pick something up where you can make a survivable wage, but don't expect that wage to change exponentially. In fact, I wouldn't expect it to happen at all: you can have solid 1:1's for a year with minor feedback for adjustment that you regularly meet and last minute they'll pull an excuse out of their behinds that they've been sitting on for the better part of a year and give you no opportunity to change it just to prevent you from receiving a pay bump. But don't worry, they company will give you t-shirts and mugs and other useless things to make up for it! Hope your landlord accepts branded merchandise as payment! They love to tout how many people have started in success and progressed in more technical roles within the company but that number of people is actually small. Most people just leave. Although they talk about career advancement, if you aren't a personal favorite you're not going to get the opportunity for it. Yes - you may be more experience, yes, you may do more work. The fact of the matter is they advance their friends. With the exception of one or two, none of managers know what they're doing. They're inept at best, antagonistic at worst. Senior management power trips and condescends (prepare yourself for a unique new way to experience workplace misogyny and microaggressions!) and the director insists that she's in touch with the needs of the team yet has been disconnected and clueless for years. It's the employees that drag initiatives across the finish line - the managers are generally woefully incompetent at leading people. Do you like taking on the burden of the work while your colleagues do nothing? This is the perfect job for you! Time and time again, I've seen teammates get burned out trying to reach KPI's *and* pick up the slack and the constant over performance is never recognized by the managers, nor is there any meaningful attempt to bring up the performance of those who are regularly taking the lesser share of the work. Part of this is the onboarding - it's not well led and poorly implemented - leaving new hires feeling unsupported. The other part is the managers just not caring. The customers can sometimes be nice but for the most part are stupid, rude or a nasty combination of both. You can recognize the root causes and actually care to help but dealing with it 25+ times per day is exhausting and demoralizing. This isn't just growing pains either... this has been happening for years. The company is overall well intentioned but ultimately out of touch of the needs of its employees. The people are the best part but that comes with a caveat - since you're essentially hired on personality and there is a strong emphasis on finding support and camaraderie in your team, you'll find that some people are too much themselves and haven't quite honed their professional personality. This can cause a lot of tension that never gets resolved. It also doesn't inspire people to raise to a professional standard, so if you like professional environments or to separate your professional and personal lives then this might be a very difficult group of people to deal with. You will find not a lot of people leave their personal lives at the door.

Pros

Half decent perks and a nice office. Some genuinely nice and cool people work there Clients are 90-95% good people.

Cons

Garbage management. Constant turnover of managers. Zero cohesion between departments that should have essential communication. Basically, congrats for you if you were hired 2+ years ago or got recent management. All anyone else gets is vague promises that "despite tech circumstances, we have no plans for lay offs" woop dee doo, could change any day. Especially when wage reviews are stingy, unclear, and made out to make you feel stupid for not knowing brand new policy no one was briefed on. Customer support is ridden hard. Expect zero real support from your superiors. It is quantity and numbers over quality. You will be lucky to have those few experienced staff on queue to help keep things in reign and not make you feel awful, but no one is going to extend any olive branches to you, you are on your own. Go ahead and post a real complicated question to your peers asking for help and watch the crickets sing. Take that question to your manager and watch them stumble over their words and get simple issues wrong because they don't know anything about real tech issues. After all, they were hired more recently than you. Forget tier 2, you've already sent it to them and recieved some BOGUS answer that basically passes the poop puck onto you, for you to force feed it down the clients throat. Have fun dealing with quickbooks errors up the bum - constant calls from customers with baseline zero tech ability. Its just the industry, no grudge against them, the clientele are 95% good people, but they are generally morons. A garbage sync system doesnt help. Their whole phone apl was built on mucky infrastructure and they had to rebuild. The release rocked their whole user base and support was left shovelling the manure. Wow, an unber eats voucher for recognition. What a joke.
