Pros

Good work life balance Comradery among the rank and file

Cons

The owner always lurks in ways you can not always see and is capricious Zero transparency on the business Bonuses are completely discritionary and rarely paid out in full No impetus to grow the business Make sure your values align with ownership

Pros

The people are the reason why you stay. There are fitness classes you can take during lunch. There are ping pong tables and treadmills you can do work on. Taking days off when you are sick doesn't count against PTO (they use a honor system). Sometimes gets extra days off during the year. Personal benefits are generous too.

Cons

The people are why you leave. There are cliques in the office. Technology moves, but not necessarily forward (more in circles than anything). A lot of decisions are made based based on feeling rather than facts. There is hesitation to change technology so there is not a large room to grow in your career (but it is good for starting out). Imbalance of work in teams, some individuals have to do a lot of work (and work-life balance suffers), others [can] slack off.

Pros

I really got to know the ladies I worked with. I was going through a hard time when my mom diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. They were very supportive and flexible with my hours. I'll never forget my friends.

Cons

Pay was average and it's retail so weekends are expected.
