Organization in Transition

Pros

The organization is full of dedicated and hard working employees that take patient care and quality as their core priority. The organization is trying to position itself to address the challenges of the healthcare environment in which they are delivering services and subsequently have had to make difficult program and staffing decisions. They have done these in a compassionate and transparent manner as possible. The organization will continue to have to consolidate and restructure to be financially strong in the coming years. This will mean all departments and services will be doing more with less and existing staff will be challenged with additional responsibilities and less distributed tasks.

Cons

As with all large organizations pockets of disfunction and poor leadership exists within the organization as well as pockets of enlightened and engaged leadership. There does continue to be very different cultures at the various campuses and entities. Again, some enlightened and some not. The sense of being overwhelmed is slowly moving up the chain of command from managers, directors, to the VP and Cxx levels. The organizations ability to prioritize their efforts will be a key to their longterm viability.
