Pros

Still a great place to work with good benefits if you get a job here. The other co-workers/colleagues are what makes it stellar.

Cons

If you were part of the unfortunate ones who were in a department that they sold (Muir Labs, IT, and now Home Health), they let you go without a blink of an eye with no severance and no loyalty to employees with 10-20+ yrs of service. Upper management really doesn't care about front line workers. It's about bottom line and padding their pockets with their bonuses for them! Used to be a family atmosphere and now trending towards more corporate and all that goes with that.

John Muir Health Response

Dear Employee: We want to thank you for expressing your thoughts and concerns. John Muir Health welcomes and encourages employee feedback and questions regarding our current and future work environment. We’re glad to hear that you enjoy working with your team and that we have phenomenal physicians. These are two of the areas that employees often cite when we ask about why they like working at John Muir Health. However, we are troubled by your comment about safety and staff concerns. The safety of staff, providers, patients, and visitors, and delivering safe patient care are always our top priorities. It’s not clear if you are commenting on personal safety or patient safety, but in either case, we encourage you to ARCC up your concerns if they are not being taken seriously. We have very specific steps that can be taken to go up the chain of command for exactly this type of issue. As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all patients, providers, staff, and visitors, John Muir Health has implemented new security measures such as a new weapons detection system and camera towers at our medical centers. As part of our High Reliability Organization, its important when you see something, say something and report any concerns to your leadership team as appropriate. We encourage you to schedule a time to meet with your supervisor to discuss any ongoing safety concerns that you may have. If you feel your concerns are not being adequately addressed, you can always speak with another leader or a Human Resources representative. We appreciate your service and look forward to hearing from you.
