Great benefits including health, savings, and accumulative vacation time.

Cons

No merit based pay raise or acknowledgement. Salary is established by job description and title, and then averaged with other salaries that similar at other colleges. If you have a job title or description that is vague and not accurate, pay does not seem fair. The college only reviews job descriptions every three years. So, the likelihood of receiving appropriate pay for a position that most likely has evolved is low. In order to promote your position within the college, you have to wait for another position to open. This rarely happens because there are many lifetime employees who will work until retirement.

The college has a great attitude, you really feel like you make a difference, and the benefits are great.

Cons

The state has suddenly swung ultra conservative and is cutting back on funding for all higher ed, so long term outlook is uncertain.
