Pros

I truly looked forward to coming to work every day ONLY because of the people who work there. There are some genuine, kind, smart, hard working people at Justworks that make the day to day struggle of cold calling and dealing with internal battles that affect whether deals close or not that are COMPLETELY out of your control btw (Workers Compensation/health care costs, etc) that ALSO affect your compensation and obviously hitting your target. The office is very large with many couches and places to sit for peace and quiet to get work done as well as the cliche start up inclusions like cold brew on tap, coffee, snacks, beer, wine, office puppies, and ping pong table. Isaac is a great CEO that truly does care for his employees. The company retreat is great for morale and company “Camaraderie” as that is a Justworks core value and the work from anywhere week recently was great for the company as well.

Cons

CHURN AND BURN. Constant turnover and senior management will refuse this to the end of time. The turnover is across all departments and there are definitely more to come soon as 30-40% of the workforce is actively looking and interviewing. But in reference to sales specifically: Here are some actual facts that would be great to ask them during the interview process: The June Account Executive hiring class of 2017 had around 20-30 AE’s. Currently only 5-8 remain, maybe less now. For the July 2017 hiring class out of 20-25 AE’s only 5-7 remain. They are massively hiring AEs for the summer of 2018 knowing that by summer of 2019 the same will happen and there will only be a handful left. HUGE RED FLAG. My recommendation to potential AE’s or SDA’s looking to join the company is to seek out a random AE or SDA through LinkedIn and speak to them about their day to day and their satisfaction. Learn more about their day to day and see if you see yourself happy doing what they do. If so, it’s a great product and it’s far ahead of the competition. But beware, you’ll notice the Kool aid wear off very quickly. I recommend finding them through Linkedin on your own as opposed to asking HR to connect you to an AE/SDA cause they obviously will pick someone who will only sell you on Justworks as opposed to giving you an honest transparent answer.

Thank for taking the time to give your feedback. There is no question that Sales is a hard job and results oriented. We try to do everything we can to support our team by bringing in outside trainers and resources, such as Mindfulness trainings for the entire sales organization. We also have defined a career progression plan that gives employees clear goals and next steps. While we do have turnover and can always do better, it is within industry averages as surveyed by The Bridge Group. I need to point out that your data listed around class sizes is incorrect. In 2017 we hired 39 AEs externally and another 13 internally. Of those 39 hired, 32 are still working at Justworks as of today. The largest AE class we had in 2017 was 15 people, not 20-30 as mentioned in the post. We have since learned that we want to keep classes to no more than 10 people if possible to maximize learning. On the Sale Development side 20 of the 30 that were hired in 2018 are still at Justworks and 13 of those 20 have been promoted to either AE or another role at Justworks. I truly wish you had a better experience and I’d be happy to connect with you directly if you’d be willing to provide more feedback directly. You can reach me at robert@justworks.com. Thanks!

Pros

There are probably some, but wasn't even enough of a chance to find out.

Cons

I came into this company when it's rating was a 4.6 and look where they are now. They were once rated as one of the top companies to work for about 4 years ago and that was nothing but a bunch of managers just giving it 5 stars to hype up the company. Now as time has gone on, there were enough employees to reveal how truly awful this company really is. They at first make it appear like they are this awesome company that is welcoming and likes to provide beers at every social event and have fun. All the managers tell you how excited they are to have you when you first join the company. They take great pride in showing off how diverse their hiring is, but it's all just a phony façade just like their company name. It’s just an excuse to pat themselves on the back and make themselves feel better about themselves. They really don't care about diversity deep down or about their employees at all. On face value they hire people of different color, ethnicities and sexual orientation, but if your personality or values don't align exactly with theirs then you won't last long or enjoy your experience here. Justworks has a very Stepford Wivesian culture where you have to walk, talk and think just like they do and if you say anything that is different from their way of doing things, even if you are new to the company, all those exciting feelings they had about you at the beginning go away real fast. Many other reviewers here have noticed this too, it’s a shame, you will only be accepted if you drink the kool aid and fit into their little clique like a glove. People here will stab you in the back and talk bad about you if you have any dissenting point of view from the norm here. I’m glad I didn’t stay here long since there seems to be a lot of problems with this company that I never got a chance to witness myself and was able to move on to better things without wasting any more time than necessary. This is the worst company I’ve ever worked at in my entire life.
