Pros

Some very smart people passionate about education...but many of the best are leaving or being choked by choas

Cons

As a longtime employee, it's hard to see that the company has lost so many great people, seems to lack a vision, and suffers from Management 101 failures. Senior executives are leaving, there is practically no communication about the strategy/vision/mission, lots of layoffs without explanation, etc.

Online Teaching

Pros

Ability to work from home allows for some flexibility. Opportunity for advancement occurs on a regular basis. Good benefits.

Cons

Hours are not flexible 8-5 is required. Teaching load is high 300+ students. Teaching load requires working evenings and weekends as well as normal 8-5. Summer break is 3 weeks if you teach for a managed school. No summer break if you teach for FuelED branch. Pay is not comparable to other teaching positions and advancements do not usually include a pay increase.

Pros

A few smart and dedicated people who are kind and collaborative. Some managers who offer good leadership, clear goals, and support for work/life balance, flex time, and telework. Good concept and mission.

Cons

Many self-serving, dishonest managers who love to talk about collaboration rather than practice it. Several people in high level roles for which they don't have the knowledge, skills, or expertise. General misunderstanding of or lack of resources for the various tools and strategies for success. Pay is not competitive.
