Pros

Prior to the merger this was the best place to work. A great group of smart people coming together and working as a team is what KCG (formerly GETCO) a unique environment. Very team oriented and everyone had a voice. Post merger this was not the case.

Cons

Post merger anything and everything that was GETCO, management tried its hardest to get rid of. The majority of the legacy GETCO people have moved on to greener pastures. Management is running this place like a bank vs. a prop trading firm. Expects you to give 110%, but they no longer wants to compensate for that.

Pros

1. Very smart and capable people in both quant and tech side. 2. Best infrastructure for research purpose as far as I could tell. 3. Good work-life balance

Cons

1. Technology and trading are decoupled and ideas between each side are not communicated properly. Good traders left because management took most of the $$ without knowing the business need. Techs are not given the chance to think about trading ideas/opportunities, which is the core for people to be enthusiastic about joining a trading firm. 2. Laid-back culture to some extent. Lack of aggressiveness especially for some senior people who have made enough to retire and were unable to pick up new skills and research ideas.
