Lots of Opportunity, Low Work-Life Balance

Pros

Upward mobility is possible, the network is growing, opportunities will continue to grow as long as you prove yourself and of course "work hard, be nice"

Cons

Long work days and weeks, work life balance is low, pay may seem better than most schools, but considering the time and energy you put into working here it may not be worth it

Unsustainable Work

Pros

Very well-resourced; we never wanted for supplies in our classrooms because we always had whatever we needed (also very rarely had to spend my own money for class materials)

Cons

Work-life balance was challenging; behavior management policy is extremely rigid for such young students; school day is too long for teachers and students alike

Pros

The curriculum KIPP DC uses is pretty great, you see a lot of growth in your students. They also offer good benefits.

Cons

There is a lot of pressure coming from co teachers, especially for new hires. Many new hires have no background in education and this can lead to tension in the classroom.
