Pros

The students are awesome. The mission is noble. For the right person, this place is heaven.

Cons

There is no work/life balance, especially for new or beginning teachers. You're basically building the plane as you're flying it, which translates into little sleep, lots of frustration, and tons of tears. KIPP cares a lot about its image and its reputation, which sometimes translates into poor decisions as far as running the schools (e.g. keeping students who don't make the cut around, guilt tripping teachers into feeling like they aren't committed enough to their job.)

Too many students/classroom for elementary, school leader had no knowledge of curriculum and would make frequent changes, poor quality educational resources for students with learning disabilities or limited English, immoral behavior by staff during standardized testing, frequent turnover, poor professional support, most teachers inexperienced, teachers expected to write the curriculum as they teach it without guidance or resources.
