Pros

Rewarding working with students and seeing their growth and potential develop over time. It's satisying working with students, but I can't really say that about their manage, ent

Cons

There is very little work-life balance during the school year; therefore, they need to do a better job promoting it. Leadership is also sub-par and inexperienced.

Pros

The KIPP Foundation is an extremely satisfying work environment that supports a nonprofit network of charter schools providing under-served children with access to high-quality education. It feels really good to be there. The Foundation is filled with remarkably smart and hard-working people. Benefits are excellent, and compensation is quite reasonable for a nonprofit. The organization is ambitious, and is good at self-reflection and adaptation.

Cons

There are some downsides. There are strong personalities, and a lot of people with competing visions, and not a whole lot of people who actually implement these grand visions. In some departments, there is a 1:1 ratio of managers and non-management staff. The organization is ambitious and self-critical, sometimes to the point of being maladaptive. The organization is struggling to transition away from a "hero model" of passionate, hard-working staff willing to burn long hours and into a mature, stable model of working smart, not hard.

Pros

The school truly is mission-driven and its commitment to the needy community it serves is evident. It is one of several charter schools in the city and has plans for significant growth in the next several years. Part of a national network of charter schools that are managed by and receive support from headquarters.

Cons

In only its third year of operation a chaotic startup atmosphere persists. To be successful and professionally content at KIPP you must thrive in a constantly changing and poorly organized environment. The administration lacks sufficient people management skills and overcrowding/Inadequate workspace is a huge problem.
