      Used to be a better place to work

      Pros

      They are open to trying new processes, if you can sell that to them. Most groups are good to work with, and are willing to help when asked.

      Cons

      Forced Time-off policy. This year, the workers are required to take 5-6 weeks off. They have to use their vacation (PTO), and when that has been used up, they have to take the time off without pay. Pay raises are scant. One time all the managers had at least a 10% reduction in salary. This was not made up for the next salary increase. Things are very political there, and people will back stab as needed to cover their own behind.

      Pros

      The option to work in locations worldwide if you like to travel. The technology is good and options to work on many different type of systems. Overtime is expected which is good for hourly employee's up to a certin point.

      Cons

      Too much focus on profits, for a company that has never lost money. Benifits always seem to get cut during down times and never restored during upturns. Long work days and work weeks. Overtime is expected.

      Good place to work, but look else where if want to develop new software and dont want to do software maintenance

      Pros

      Company is stable and dominant in most market segments it operates in. You can come across wide rage of fields from software, electronics, optics and mechanical engineering and math.

      Cons

      Not a very good place for someone looking for growth in terms of their software engineering skills. Most of the time you will have to work with old code base and spend time in maintenance work like : defect fixing and escalations as a software developer. If you land in a solid group and right time the job can be very stable too.
