Disappointing

Pros

Ability to get somewhat useful experiences on your CV, but only after suffering many mind numbing assignments and proving to be a work horse

Cons

- Partners don't care about you or your personal time/life; you are interchangeable to them and nothing more than a means for them to bill more hours and increase their own pay - Result is horrible hours and total disregard of your personal well being; regularly expected to work over or give up PTO; if you express any unwillingness to give all for the Firm you are either called lazy/uncoachable or met with or empty promises of future relief that never comes - Very high turnover due to the above

Pros

Colleagues - ambitious, career-driven, and personable Company brand - having KPMG on your resume opens a lot of doors

Cons

Office politics - trying to get on a desirable project requires a lot of networking and going back and forth between the Partners and HR Horizontal movement - difficult to move between service lines; it's often times easier to apply to another Big 4 than it is moving within the company Salary/Benefits - compared to industry we're selling ourselves short but the experience and name is the trade-off

Just another big 4...

Pros

They treat their interns really well, once your internship is over you are just another machine clocking as many hours as they can squeeze out of you before you quit.

Cons

Long hours, boring/meaningless work, hierarchical structure, outdated technology The company says "just ask" about career opportunities within the company, but management is only willing to help if they get something out of it.
