Pros

Good job security, reasonable advancement, fairly dependable wage increases depending upon the budget situation, not a tremendous amount of pressure, "you don't have to be crazy to work here, but it helps", good benefits

Cons

Mediocrity is pretty much king, no real reason to strive for excellence, upper management ignores your input, mediocre (if that) pay, A very real culture of "it's not what you know, it's who you know", lots and lots of politics

Pros

Benefits would be the best part of this job. The pay was low for this type of job but benefits were good.

Cons

Upper management were stuck in a rut. They did the same things for decades and never changed.

Pros

Promotional opportunities, benefits; such as medical and holiday pay, vacation accrual and sick leave were good, training opportunities. The City has numerous departments and titles one may choose from.

Cons

Some managers only look out for themselves, freezing salaries, not being able to hire in some departments, office politics, pay ranges, policies for promotional pay, took away tuition reimbursement.
