Just Don't

Pros

Great people that compromise the teams Long standing company with a great job security

Cons

Work ethic and skill does not determine your job title but rather your lack of melanin, There are no upper-level managers of color and there are only two mid-level managers of color out of about 500 employees. There is no way to move up the ladder and you do the same thing day in day out. Very much like hamsters on the wheel. Lastly, if there is someone who does not know how or why they don't find out themselves, they simply pass it off to whomever. Again, luxuries many do not have.

Pros

Stable company. Been in business for years. Well known in the immediate community.

Cons

I have never worked for a company that fosters nepotism so blatantly. Also racism is rampant at Kaplan. There are less than 5 managers of color at this large company. When you first interview the assumption will be that you're there for a warehouse job. No room for advancement just room to be shuffled into another stifling dept. The company says they're into diversity but there is 0 action that supports such statement.

They’ll never pay you what you’re worth

Pros

You could see it as an incubator if you’re early in your career. Once you have a few years experience, your are worth more than they will ever pay you.

Cons

Shady management. Reliance on government grants and funds. The Kaplan family that plays no part in the business still takes the profits, probably why they don’t pay well despite being such a large company. Nepotism and favoritism are rampant. New CEO secretly married his secretary and then made her president of the publishing arm of the company. They required their non essential staff back into the office in May of 2020 in the middle of the worst the pandemic. Did I mention the pay and benefits are weak. They’re a early childhood education company and don’t have daycare discounts or paid maternity/paternity leave.
