      Great technology, horrific leadership

      Pros

      The best part is that I knew more than most of my leaders and how to make it successful commercially and was able to do so.

      Cons

      They did not care, did not appreciate sales success. Prefer to be an r&d company and believe commercial growth reflects poorly on their image. Too much arrogance behind their PhD and MD titles that even their own customers rolled their eyes at them behind their backs.

      - Supportive and respectful environment - Great health and dental benefits - obviously free lunch is a good perk - professional and dedicated scientists - solid company vision - flexibility

      Cons

      - only con for me is my commute

      Pros

      Company has gone through a leadership transition that has been handled very well by all parties involved. Co-founders and new CEO are using their talents and skills for the betterment of the company. The culture envisioned by the early members of the company is being maintained while the company is in the process of scaling. Karius is one of the few healthcare companies that makes products to help patients back to health and cares about its employees at the same time. Many healthcare companies treat sick people but don't care about their employees, only shareholder return on investment. The technology is on the frontier of diagnostics, and the company has a loyal and expanding hospital base. The company is well funded and its Board is engaged and enlisted in the success of the organization. At present, fully paid medical, dental, and vision benefits. Above industry average compensation for employees who can obtain medical without enrolling in the Karius plan.

      Cons

      New medical technologies that challenge the Standard of Care are not for everyone. People need to know how to produce and re-create simultaneously. Sometimes there are too many good ideas and the company needs to focus on those that are great ideas. The dental benefit is below industry average, while every other part of the medical plan is at or above industry average.
