Pros

Cool mission, cool projects, really smart people to work with among individual contributors.

Cons

Incompetent management in the middle, woefully inexperienced at the executive level save for the new CEO (Alec Ford, replaced one of the founders), some of those people are in C suite jobs and it is their first job ever. Yeah, they are living and learning but they always keep their jobs because they decide who doesn't. Mass layoffs are an obvious indication of severe failure at the executive level, yet none of those people, or middle management, get laid off. Why? Firing them and hiring seasoned professionals rather than rooks out of academia or government labs for those jobs might result in realistic goals and on time successes rather than set ups for failure with no plan of how to handle them when it happens.

Great work but volatile hiring\firing

Pros

Fantastic technology. Strong social culture in the trenches. Other than below a great place to work.

Cons

Sales employees laid off when healthcare customers were covid testing. Recent layoffs cut back product development, and now multiple postings to rehire a salesforce. Knee-jerk hiring and firing doesn't align with claimed attention to employee development and well being.

Lack of leadership

Pros

Amazing technology. Future of diagnostics.

Cons

There is no leadership at Karius. There is a task master CEO that doesn’t listen to anyone else’s opinion or thoughts. He has created a terrible culture. He also doesn’t understand the business and he is fiscally irresponsible.
