Pros

The people, as individuals, are smart, reliable, and hard-working. The main office is in the Loop. They have a pretty awesome sky deck. Work/life balance is awesome. The most I've ever worked was 9 hours in a day (this, of course, is coming from a company where 12 hours was the norm).

Cons

Nothing current is documented. Policies and procedures for how to do your job are (if found) usually 15 years old. It's a very "this is how we used to do it, so this is how we'll continue to do it" culture. I question some of Kemper's hiring practices considering mid-management is some of the worst managers I've ever reported to. Pay is not competitive.

Pros

I enjoyed the people that I worked with.

Cons

There is no room for advancement no matter the position because leadership likes to play office politics which is terrible for morale. Needs improvement & meets are standard for promotions while exceeds and exceptional team members are overlooked unless you are part of the "click". Salary is not aligned with industry standards for a company with "14 billion dollars" in assets. There is no structure and direction from "leadership". A constant change in direction every 60-90 days before any idea is thoroughly examined and tested. Just throw it out there and see what sticks mentality. You will have to do your job and 2-3 others on your team which will keep your desk disorganized. Super receive will be turned on with claims given to exceptional adjusters in order to slow your momentum. The overall culture in claims is atrocious.
