Good company to learn

Pros

It's a great company to learn from before you move on. They have high turn over so you can quickly move up the ranks if you work hard. They hire fun and unique people, so you quickly make friends... GM's are easily accessible most of the time and truly care about their employees.

Cons

Low salary, low commision compared to other hotels. The only raise you get is cost of living. Benefits for catering employees is unfair. No sick days, no holiday pay, and almost unaffordable medical coverage. There is no consistency between properties, proper training is not provided. No work life balance in catering department. Expected to work every weekend. There is a disconnect between each department.

Pros

- great pay - $50 employee rate at any Kimpton hotels (if you can find one) - decent friends and family discounts - 50% off Kimpton Restaurants on the job - different culture compared to other hotel giants. - LBGT friendly - friendly associates - "fortune 100 best companies to work for" looks great on resumes

Cons

- poor benefit packages - different culture compared to other hotel giants 1. No structure 2. No policies 3. No respect for the managements - associates are poorly trained - line staff shows no respect to managers - gossip - does not walk the talk. - favoritism - no encouragement, motivating employees but always yells and only points out the mistakes. - over worked and you will burn out quick
