Great but compensation package could be better

Pros

The culture is amazing. Employees are generally happy and guests usually love staying. The programming at each hotel is unique and the hotels have a cool vibe to them.

Cons

The company sets the expectation of the hotel leaders on culture service but it is up to them to execute at a hotel level and that's not always the case. In certain places it's awesome but other places not so much. Also, the company is a bit behind the times with compensation. Compared to other companies we are paid much less and given a small COLA each year during review time. Also, the different departments seem disjointed and not cohesive. Operations does fine but finance, sales and revenue seem to be on their own and not part of the whole hotel. I've heard my managers use the word silos before when describing how the company works.

Pros

Employee rate is only $50 My coworkers and I were a close-knit team, I never dreaded going to work They have options for career development

Cons

Favoritism is rampant: my supervisor forged my signature, checked people into wrong rooms repetitively and had multiple complaints against him, but he was the GM's favorite never fired. Favoritism, Favoritism, Favoritism, Favoritism, Favoritism, Favoritism, Favoritism, Favoritism! No work-life balance: schedules were posted 3 days ahead of the week so it's impossible to plan anything in advance. They run on a skeleton crew so hourly staff is frequently working 6++ days in a row (I think the most I did was 13 in a row).

Pros

The Employees at the actual hotels are wonderful! A lot of company events.

Cons

Well first of all, let me start by saying that I am writing this review only based on my experience working for the corporate/ home office. (not the hotels or restaurant) The people here are snobby, shallow, clicky, materialistic, and over all bad people. People here are so hypocritical, they all want you to think they care about you as a person or employee but what is really going on is that they are just trying to look good for their superiors because they have been instructed to pretend to act like they care. If you ever work at the corporate/ home office and don't know someone personally then your pretty much on your own. The people here are all long life friends, relatives, or spouses. They are always getting away with not working and are always blaming others for their short comings. They say they have high expectations of their employees, but when it comes to communicating with their employees no one ever wants to actually have a human conversation everyone just Skypes or emails everyone. Everyone usually sticks to their own department, and if you are in a different department then you will usually never learn someone else name outside your own. If you are not constantly sucking up or brown nosing the executives then you are not a good employee. You definitely can not be yourself at this company even though they say they encourage for you to be yourself. Oh and to top it off, if you are a person of color than you might as well not apply at this company, the only way a person of color could ever work here was if they new one of the executives. ( I did, that's why I got hired) Worst place I've worked for yet
