Pros

If your right out of college. You will learn allot, because KM dosen't believe in spending for consultants.

Cons

No Support, Senior Management will close minded. Technical support is limited do to in experience. Many people have an additude of cut throat philosophy. Hi turn over in the Terminals, more than any other company I have worked with. As a Senior Project Manager, this has been very frustrating to say the least. Our group has gone through 3 mangers in less than 16 month. Not to mention support personnel. Pay is horrible! KM top exec only make $210,000. So a engineer with 10 yr's experince makes in the 50 - 60 range. Hourly personnel make an average of $11 -$14 in average with no pay raises passed 4% a year. Bonus are less than 5% yearly regardless of effort and results.

Pros

With the acquisition of El Paso Corp they have become the fourth largest energy company.

Cons

I cannot believe they have managed to find that many incompetent people to work in one organization. After reviewing this website and the comments made, it is very clear that these descriptions of Kinder Morgan are very, very, accurate. Kinder will do all they can to avoid paying a buck for anything. They believe you should be grateful to work for them. Incompetent management. Clearly people who are happy being average. Zero leadership in all levels in all departments. Did I say, CHEAP? CHEAP! From Kinder's HR - "we pay average, no more." So if you accept a job with them just know you are accepting a (probably) below-average salary. Everyone wears, "many hats" - their words. No one is ever happy. No one smiles. This company will NEVER win a "Best Places to Work" award and what's worse is they are proud of it (see other posts). I have filed two ethics complaints and both have gone unanswered. They have simply closed them out as resolved.

Pros

Kinder Morgan offers employees excellent health benefits. Headquarters are located in Houston, Texas with regions scattered across North America. Travel opportunities abound here as regions can span many states.

Cons

I was told when I interviewed at Kinder Morgan that they kept a 'lean staff'. Beware! This translates into excessively long work days (including weekends and holidays) with seemingly little recognition from management for your efforts. Salary does not reflect the amount of responsibility or workload expected from staff. Witnessed questionable hiring tactics (nepotism) that resulted in quite a bit of turmoil for the staff impacted by the hiring decision.
