Pros

Kindred is a good place to start a new career. The supervisors/charge nurses are very approachable for questions and learning. The supervisors/charge nurses are good at looking out for the welfare of their staff. They are always ready to teach and help out.

Cons

While the supervisors/charge nurses are wonderful, management is a different story. Concerns and needs by staffs are blatantly ignored. In fact, these concerns are met bythe usual response “well, you should feel lucky that you have a job. If you’re not happy with it, the door is wide open.” There is no confidentiality. If a staff member has done something wrong, the rest of the staffs will learn about the impending trouble and reperscussions first before the involved staff member. Threats of call-in jeopardy are always brought up even if an employee had only 2 call-ins for the last year and a half. Management are always making or changing new policies to suit their needs.

Pros

The opportunities in the company, they prefer to hire from within.

Cons

The facility does not have the freedom to make its own decisions, the facility is very micro-managed. 'Everyone" knows that each facility is very unique and corporate should be able to take this into account when making decisions on how to run it. Employees, from housekeeping to management, should be heard and opinions should be taken very seriously. These are the people who are actually in the day to day running of the facility; who know what is best for the patients and staff. (Some) Corporate and (some) senior management people are very quick to point out what is wrong/ what has not been done, but very slow to commend staff on their efforts. They come in like they are god, no smiles or words of encouragement. The staff comment on this all the time, and they wonder why they are still there----and they answer their own question----they love their patients and the people they work "with".
