Pros

I really enjoy working at Kiva. Our mission is critical to creating equality for prospective entrepreneurs, no matter your socioeconomic, or geographic situation. Kiva creates a psychologically safe for all of our employees. Kiva values authenticity and supports employees from all walks of life. They value diversity, equity and inclusion and promoting a workforce of happiness, creativity and innovation.

Cons

The organization is lean and can sometimes feel pretty resource constricted, but the leadership team cares and takes a can do attitude to solve these types of issues and I appreciate that.

Pros

The mission and impact you make working here are unparalleled, and it's a place I'm genuinely proud to work at. People are authentic in their care, and there are awesome people throughout the company. Great flexibility for work-life balance. New CEO is promising and motivating. Pay and benefits are generally less than corporate, but still competitive.

Cons

As mentioned in many reviews, lack of career growth / movement is still a major issue, and (white) men are consistently favored in advancement when it does happen. Management is ineffectual at best and actively preventing innovation and culture improvements at worst. The culture in engineering is extremely senior heavy and often unfriendly for underrepresented groups. There is some desire to change this but, again, blocked by change resistant management, as well as a new CTO that is deprioritizing empathetic leadership and DEI for a more corporate model and mindset. Collaboration between departments has suffered over time, and it's tough to stay connected to the mission when you don't interact with it directly.
