Pros

Pros Include: Remote work, & free lunch during training. Also, the guarunteed Pay the first couple months in Training of $100K.

Cons

So many Cons: Base pay is low at $40K. They will overpay you and expect you to owe back money. Micromanagement is a huge one. They will micromanage you to death on Call Stats & Email stats. Every single thing you do on the clock is monitoried and recorded. The Unlimited PTO is very limited with lots of rules around it. They are unconcerned if you have life events (sick children, time off to enroll your kid in school). I once had a manager call me 6X in one day to micromanage me. I only lasted 9 months, and left as soon as I could. My advice for anyone interviewing at Knowbe4? RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.

Hello. Unless there was a significant payroll error, there is no scenario where we would ask a Knowster for money back from their pay. Our sales calls are recorded to make sure our customers are getting the best service possible, as most companies do. We don’t have unlimited PTO, but we do have an open PTO policy where it is up to manager's discretion if your PTO is approved. It’s still expected that you give ample notice for PTO to be approved. There is no situation where a manager would disapprove of PTO for an employee to handle a sick child. We know these things come up and are uncontrollable. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors.

It’s getting bad

Pros

Flexible PTO (used to be unlimited, recently changed to flexible)

Cons

This place is constantly getting worse in terms of employee experience. Layoffs, forced RTO, leaders and reps leaving left and right. Quota attainment is BAD right now, nobody can hit their numbers and they continue to increase quota quarterly. Their strategy is to always dangle something shiny that’s coming next quarter or next year, but when the time comes it’s a complete letdown. Recent GTM changes in Q2 2024 were a dumpster fire with a ton of people leaving the company. Starting in Q4 2023 they told us we’d be getting huge raises to get us to market standard, better benefits, better tech to sell with. Then the time came and they gave us abysmal raises that in no way reflect the current market, nothing changed with benefits other than some were taken away, so far we have no tech improvements and the tech we do have is broken and unusable. Our comp plans were changed to something so overly complicated that you almost don’t noticed how badly your commissions were slashed…almost. Forced us back in the office 3x/week even when hired remotely. Now they’re telling us “But 2025 will be different!” and expecting us to believe them. My advice is don’t work here unless you’re desperate. It’s toxic and only getting worse.

Hi Knowster. Our HR responses are not “BS”. They are simply the truth. A lot did change when we rolled out our new GTM strategy and we have done our best to keep all Knowsters in the loop as these changes have occurred. We have added to our tech stack on the sales side. At no point did anyone say “huge raises” were coming. What was said was that compensation, both base and variable, would be adjusted as we moved to an ARR model with new roles and responsibilities for many positions. Depending on the role, some base pays were significantly increased. Yes, as part of the restructuring, some roles were no longer needed. If you have questions about utilizing your resources to their full capacity, please get with your manager.

Pros

Unlimited PTO - Health - Work from Home

Cons

The unlimited PTO is denied all the time because we don't have coverage, but Directors and VPs are out at least 5-7 days per month. Work From home was switched to hybrid. Massive account overload, 10-15 times what CSMs at other companies have to handle. Low Pay - very low pay compared to our market average. Upper Management ignores our feedback, we are completely unheard. And when we are heard we are told there is a light at the end of the tunnel, trust the process and go back to work. I have heard that for over 3 years now, how long is this tunnel? Goal posts for bonuses are stretched to an unobtainable mark. There is no leadership for CSMs, everyday is a completely random demand with no measurable focus on the accounts, just a demand to get more of their money. Middle management does not have the tools to help us succeed. You will be micromanaged down to every 15 minute block of your day. Executive leadership is completely disconnected from us, we struggle to make ends meet, while the CEO asks us to Proofread his book, and shows off his new Cybertruck/mansion. Rule number 3 is to have fun while we work, KnowBe4 hasn't been fun since we started making a move for IPO, and it's worse since the Vista Acquisition. A whole new department was created to take over 10% of our role, get upsell. They do almost no work but process the referrals we get them, and they make twice as much money as we do. We have openings and promotions that have gone months without being filled because no one cares anymore to apply. This company has become a joke.

Hello Knowster. We have an open PTO policy which doesn’t mean you can take an ‘unlimited’ amount of time off. If you feel your PTO requests are within reason and being denied, please reach out to the People Operations team. There are no executives taking 60-84 days off per year as you claim. Our CSMs are not responsible for upselling or tech support like CSMs at other companies are, hence having more accounts per CSM than other companies but nowhere close to 10-15x the norm. Also, we fill our open promotion roles internally very quickly and have had more than 170 promotions year to date across all sectors of the company. Leadership consistently communicates what the goals and targets are for each area daily. If you are still unclear as to what the expectations are for your role, please reach out to your manager and People Operations.
