Pros

There are no pros working for this company.

Cons

The company inundates employees with compliance training and MBM training (culture). Basically, if you do not comply with the brainwashing to think and act exactly as they want you to, then you're not a fit for their culture. People with ideas, a backbone, intelligence, and common sense will not fit in with the culture. Thinking differently is not allowed. If you disagree with anyone or stand up for yourself, you're let go. The company pushes their political agenda on employees and want employees to donate a portion of their salary for political campaign contributions. Health benefits offered are horrible. The employee pays for the majority of the premium and the company does not pay any towards life insurance, AD&D, or disability. The company only offers a small 401(k) match after being there for a year. There are no incentives or perks like relaxed dress on Fridays - jeans are strictly prohibited. They do not offer telecommuting - you cannot work from home. The company is not fun and does very little in motivating its employees. KBS doesn't care if employees are happy - they are only focused on working and compliance. The turnover rate is really high - the company should be embarrassed.

Pros

Great salary, benefits and interesting work.

Cons

Too conservative; minimum flexibility and bias behavior toward Wichita. No opportunities in Atlanta.

Pros

Good company with strong mission and values. They live and breath Market-Based Management (MBM), which are the 10 commandments, erh, 10 guiding principles by which the culture is formed and maintained. You must drink the cool-aid, which, at the end of the day, is not bad tasting, if you are very conservative, hard-working, and passionate about oil, chemicals, and toilet paper. Although not perfect, they do attempt to practice what they preach, from the top-down and bottom-up. Management, in most cases, works hard, rewards good behavior, and strives to help those who need to improve. Pay is in range for a large company.

Cons

It is not a "fun" environment. Typical huge company, slow moving. They day often feels like drudgery. Compliance, for better or worse, is their top priority -- understandable, but can be taken too far outside the context of their core business (which clearly does have regulatory restrictions.) Teamwork is mediocre (at least in Atlanta), because people aren't in close proximity. The office is downtown and extremely long commutes force folks to get out by 3:45 to beat traffic and enjoy their "real life" at home. Bonus structure is "performance based", but still somewhat subjective. i.e. "spot bonuses". Annual performance reviews are given, but not always salary increases -- not even COL adjustments.
