Pros

Kodiak Area Native Association has great pay and they have decent benefits. There 401k match is also good, if you can manage to stay long enough to reap that benefit.

Cons

There is a reason that KANA has a negative image within the community, including their reputation with a majority of natives. They have increasingly poor middle management. I have watched them destroy entire departments due to poor management that they continue to support. It is unfortunate and a major disservice to the Native community within Kodiak. The professional staff is very unhappy overall, from medical to behavioral health to community development. The new children's program is a disaster. The staff doing the work have very poor work-life balance and, often times, poor mental health. Unfortunately the salary draws people in, which has given upper management the impression that they are happy. It has been sad to watch.
