Pros

Associates are really nice, they are helpful

Cons

Credit is all that matters they even ask their OWN employees to sign up and keep bothering you about it non stop. If you are 18 or over they will keep asking you to sign up for the credit. They dont respect your schedule at all and make very rude remarks when you ask nicley. You get yelled at for the smallest mistakes. Glad I'm leaving this place soon. Also the pay is low cuz they are only located in the suburbs and they dont want to pay their employees any higher than $10hr. Also your benifits are not active until 90 days too

Pros

- Everyday 15% discount; quarterly added 20-25% discounts on top of standard discount. - If you are part-time, you tell them what days and hours you are available. - This retail company aims to survive and is not afraid to evolve by experimenting with new ideas. - In 4 years our store is on the third Store Manager, each one better than the last one; e..g, more focused on using corporate standards to achieve goals. - They try to offset lower wages by fostering a sense of family; e.g., a catered free pizza or Olive Garden lunch on Inventory days or Black Friday. Pot luck lunches. Extra discount days, fun rewards for extra effort like movie ticket raffle or candy bars.

Cons

- Hourly pay not that competitive - Pressure on POS sales folks to enroll customers in the corporate charge card - Full-timers are required to open up availability to 7 days, required to close 1 day a week. Don't know if it is a corporate requirement, but our Store Manager schedules every other weekend off for us full-timers. - Changes of merchandise location on the sales floor are not communicated to Associates. This makes us waste time looking for product when we are trying to fulfill an online customer's order....

Pros

I worked at Kohl's in Houston, TX part-time for a month before being terminated. Its a very relaxed work environment and the other employees were easy to get along with. 15% associate discount was nice but nothing to rave about.

Cons

New hire training is practically non-existent. A quick 10 minute video that is useless. They schedule part-time employees for 4 hour shifts. I was working 4 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is obviously Kohl's way of avoiding paying healthcare benifits to their store employees. There were only 3 full time employees in the entire store I worked at (the managers). Pay for a part time associate was $11/hr. Pay is below the competition. Associates were leaving to Walmart. When you loose employees to Walmart you have a problem. Kohl's clearly sees their employees as disposable and does not take the time to invest in them. I was terminated for accepting a Kohl's cash coupon that a customer didn't want and gave me. It was given to me, not stolen. At no point was I ever instructed this was against policy. The company has the potential to be a great place to work but are flat out using their associates, paying them less than the competition, and with zero benifits. I had a discussion with the manager before leaving and agreed the ethics behind dodging a benifits package by hiring all part timers is bad ethics. After working at this company I have decided that I will vote with my wallet and take my business elsewhere as a customer.
