Pros

Made plenty of friends and got a decent discount.

Cons

I've had to close 4 departments in one night by myself while the managers walked around pointing out more things that needed to be done instead of helping. Most of the management doesn't have the necessary experience or skills to be in their position. Extremely condescending and lazy. No one wants to work here which makes scheduling horrible. As a college student, I shouldn't have been working 5 days a week.

Pros

They do a great job for the community. The Associates in Action program is a great way to get involved with volunteering, and it is a fun way to spend free time.

Cons

I worked for Kohl's for over a year and only ever made $9.14 an hour. I was an MJM associate, meaning I worked in the mens, juniors, and womens clothing departments. Ninety eight percent of the time, I was expected to have either the entirety of the womens or the mens, or both, departments one hundred percent clean in a four hour time period. It usually takes four hours minimum on a good day to do one department. On a bad day, it takes way longer. I, as well as all of my co-workers, were expected to have our departments completely perfect in that time period when it was impossible. We would be belittled in front of our co-workers for not working fast enough or not meeting their standards. Not a good place to work.

Pros

Coworkers are so friendly and so warm like family. The associate discount counts for every item in the store & it's combinable!!! You get to converse with genuinely nice people. Store manager is very generous and really loves his team, he makes you feel appreciated. I'm still surprised.

Cons

Minimum wage salary, meanwhile other retail stores are willing to pay other POS associates $10 - $11 as a starting salary with no prior experience in retail and/or entry level to the job world. The forced pressure from certain advisors on associates to constantly have customers sign up for an in store credit card can be too much sometimes. It's not like America is in a renaissance era. People are not to keen on signing up for more debt, so good luck with telling management you didn't get at least 2 credit cards.
