Pros

- Great coworkers. - Nice customers (for the most part). - Lots of Associate Shop Days and a decent employee discount. - Always new things to learn and do! - Plenty of room for advancement and cross-training.

Cons

- Burnout can happen very quickly, especially if you work POS a lot. - Customers can be nasty. - Managers breathing down your neck about selling credit and emails. - The pay is horrible. - Overworked and understaffed at times. - Unrealistic expectations. - Sporadic hours. One week you can work 30 hours and the next you'll work 4. Sometimes you'll be scheduled to close the store one day and open the store the very next day.

Pros

Good job/company to have on a resume. Contractors cannot work overtime so I always worked 40 hours weeks.

Cons

I don't even know where to begin. This company relies heavily on contractors/consultants/freelancers to staff their many departments. These contractors do A LOT of work (especially in my department) and do not get compensated for it. It's kind of a disgusting concept as consultants do not get any sort of benefits, are unable to use the Wellness Center (health clinic), do not receive a Kohl's discount and are unable to work from home. Not to mention the fact that consultants have restricted access to some things, making it difficult and incredibly annoying to do your work sometimes. This company should be embarrassed by the way they treat their consultants. Have some respect! It's also very difficult to secure a permanent position within the company. They are reluctant to hire consultants from different departments so unless the dept. you are a contractor in has a job opening, good fricken luck getting a position in another dept. This is incredibly discouraging and really makes you wonder what Kohl's is trying to do. Bunch of jerks.

Pros

Good employee benefits, especially healthcare

Cons

The corporate culture is one of conformity. New ideas or workflows are outright rejected from the bottom up. Project management exists as an advocate of creative ONLY. Employee input is not valued, and highly discouraged.
