Pros

Fairly generous PTO and benefits package, decent salary, opportunity to work alongside many extremely talented individuals

Cons

Extremely hierarchical; leadership does not appear to value employee satisfaction or input; HR continuously promotes people who are known to create toxic work environments/demonstrate poor leadership capabilities

Pros

Was able to made lots of friends, some who I still have today. Cross training was encouraged so you’d have the opportunity to move around and try new things.

Cons

Pay was bad and they made it almost impossible to get real raises. For example, say you make $12.50 when minimum wage is only $12 because you’ve been there for a while. Now they announce minimum wage is going to be raised to $12.50. We’ll you’ll get a $0.50 raise right? Wrong. You stay at your wage bc you are at/above the new minimum wage already. Everyone else gets moved up to $12.50 and you lose your additional compensation that you earned. Scheduling was also pretty bad and it’s always so understaffed. It’s either very understaffed and your overworked or it’s understaffed and there’s no hours for anyone. It’s not very reliable.

Pros

The only pros were the people I met and became friends with. Some stores are like family and some stores are like the Game of Thrones.

Cons

Poorly compensated. Especially if you work your way up. Raises are a joke. You only make good money if you're a District Manager and up. Minimal training for all positions. No work life balance. District Managers are useless and know nothing of what it takes to run a store. Payroll to run the store is horrible. Most Kohl's stores run on a skeleton crew but is still expected to keep the store cleaned and stocked. Kohl's does not care about their employees and Kohl's Cares volunteer events are not really for volunteers. Management is forced to bring so-called volunteers to events, especially if it's a favorite event of the District or Territory Managers. Management is forced to work long hours, especially when their store is getting a visit from Corporate and the store has to be perfect which is ridiculous because most Kohl's stores are a disaster and are so hard to shop.
