Pros

Kohl's compensates executives with 4 weeks of vacation per year and they also give every other weekend off, which is rare in retail.

Cons

Kohl's executives work a six day week during the holidays and the stores are open as early as 5:00am and close as late as midnight so there really isn't much room for sleeping.

Pros

Employees are able to combine up to 3 coupons in addition to their employee discount of 15% off. It's a really simple job. Anyone who can surf the internet can figure out the touch screen cash register. There is a Kohls everywhere.

Cons

I can't believe there is no incentive plan! I've worked at other retailers that paid a quarterly commission of $15 per approved credit card sold, and $1 per new/verified email address (customer had to acknowledge the welcome email and confirm signup). Kohls doesn't have any kind of incentive program at all. They just push and push and push you to get 2 credit cards and 11 emails per shift. If you are lucky, they will be playing "bingo" that day and if you meet all your goals you will get a snickers bar. Really?? If I bring in 2 credit cards, 11 new emails, receive a written customer compliment and receive a written employee compliment I can get a 75 cent candy bar? The POS position pays minimum wage. Even though I've listed myself as available any time (all days of the week and open-close) I only get 11-17 hours per week. The shifts are never the same, so I can never plan any fun outings with my friends because every shift is at some random time. The schedules are generally posted only 4-7 days in advance. again making it hard to have a life outside of work. They generally post 2 weeks worth of schedule at a time, but during the holidays they have just been posting the next weeks schedule on the preceding Wednesdays. They have a day-off black out in November and December. You are not allowed to take any days off at all. Everyone is required to work Black Friday and Christmas Eve. You cannot have employees from other area Kohls cover your shifts. even if they are trained in the same area. This makes the pool of people that you can trade shifts with very small. With the schedules coming out so late and no one to swap shifts with, you are pretty much stuck working at Kohls whim. Conversely, if you want hours you only have a limited pool of people to pickup shifts from. The training material is all about "yes we can" and making the customer happy. Management is all about keeping up the sales numbers. There are highly conflicted messages about whether or not we should allow customers to use coupons if they forgot them. Every manager or 2-7 seems to have a different policy.

Pros

Nice benefits in retirement programs Can take unpaid time off in addition to vacation time Fellow associates were nice overall

Cons

Management reactive instead of proactive Management pretends to be concerned, but really, they're too overwhelmed to address much Safety hazards brought to managements attention were never addressed Supervisors in DC's are chosen, not based on actual experience within company, but are almost always chosen straight out of college with no prior work experience No cost of living increases, and annual payraises are insulting
