Pros

The job itself isn't very hard.If you are a sales associates you just tend to the cash register, clean fitting rooms, stock merchandise, and help customers walking around your department. The pay starts off pretty good.I had no experience and started at $8/hr which is well above minimum wage. You get occasional catered lunch from pizza hut or somewhere else which is nice from the management. Some of the managers are genuinely nice and caring for their employees. The days goes by pretty fast just folding and making your department look presentable.

Cons

The larger departments like Misses and Mens are usually understaffed for the night and its a nightmare cleaning out the fitting rooms and placing everything back. Some managers are inconsiderate and fake, but i guess that just depends on someones personality rather than the company.Management somehow feels disturbed when asking a day off.

Pros

Great benefits including 2 full-service cafeterias in-building. Opportunities for volunteering and becoming involved in sports and other activities with co-workers. The pride of working for a retailer that thrived in the recession when many shut down or made severe cuts.

Cons

The company is so numbers-focused that they have been forgetting the other important element: the people. Lack of a work-life balance is constantly a complaint here. Managers that perform well numbers-wise are allowed to stay, despite a lack in leadership skills. Promotion from within is not easy; unless you're a manager favorite, it's difficult to obtain the necessary mentorship and attention needed to push through the bureaucracy. Hourly employees are often treated like second-class citizens when it comes to making up time during inclement weather, no remote access, and no 100% paid sick leave.

Pros

-They offer great scheduling. -Managers are nice, even when pushing credit (most of them anyway). -It seems hard to get fired or severely reprimanded. -Retirement savings with a company match -Vacation and holiday pay, even for part-timers (you get paid a small amount on those days;based on how often you work).

Cons

-Hourly rate is awful. Fast-food companies pay employees more after 3 months than what we get. -Only yearly raises. (Once, it was 15 cents and they said it was because of the economy which I found difficult to believe considering I knew Kohl's was GAINING market share. Anyways, the biggest yearly raise heard about was only 30 cents anyways.) -Associate discount is only 15% (customers get that and up to 30%off. Other retailers are also much more generous.)
