Pros

The company has a family atmosphere. Stores are very flexible in working around school or family scheduling. Great place to work if you like to work alone.

Cons

The pay scale really sucks. If the company raised the pay scale, their would be a lot more loyalty. Payroll allocations are ridiculous compared to how much the company wants done in the stores.

Pros

Allow you to cross train and work in multiple departments Give you a small compensation for opening credit cards Business casual (more so casual) dress code Occasionally brings in lots of food and drinks Ability to pick up shifts Ability to post shifts you don't want but someone must take them so you don't get in trouble

Cons

Minimum wage with little hours for those considered part time, which is everyone that isn't management Tend to expect you to clean out an entire fitting room by yourself on the busiest of days Really, really like to push for the Kohls credit card Sometimes your break is super late Expect you to move mountains and do anything for the customer no matter how rude or insane the request Can schedule you for a closing shift (10:30pm or 11:30pm) and expect you back by 4am or 5am for your next shift Some of the managers do not like to do their job and others like to make sure everyone is working every single second and their location Wearing a walkie can be very annoying You are always called for back-up on the registers; personally and overhead They never schedule enough cashiers or they schedule way too many

Pros

They give their staff great discounts, decently lenient on taking days off.

Cons

Credit. Again, we are forced to ask about credit and even I have been pulled to the side to be told that I am not getting enough people to sign up for credit when I am up at the registers. A lot of times, it feels like that is the sole thing that they care about. Another thing is that I recently learned that it is not possible to go on break within 30 minutes of the store closing. I had completely finished cleaning up my section (which was what I wanted before I went on break) and I finally asked about going on break, but the manager that was on staff that night told me off and said I couldn't go on break because it was 9:30 and we were closing in a half hour. Now, granted, there were other sections that needed help, but I hadn't gotten a single break in my shift and I had gotten my section completely done. But she refused to let me. Also a huge concern is how little they let their employees call in sick. It is hugely frowned upon when you call in, even if it is very obvious over the phone that you are very sick. They will not stand for it and I have even had an instance where the manager scolded me for daring to call in sick. Now, keep in mind that I rarely call in sick in the first place. They are so understaffed that they have a problem when even just one employee calls in sick for a closing shift. The floor goes to chaos. Not to mention on days that are usually busy, they are understaffed in not only the sales floor, but for the POS shifts as well. They rarely have more than two people actually scheduled for POS. They rely heavily on the sales floor associates to answer calls.
