Pros

Benefit package is outstanding. If you are not a union member, you can work there forever.

Cons

No good deed goes unpunished. Everyone fears HVK and consequently, won't make a decision in a timely manner. It takes a lifetime and a zillion approvals to get approval for a project. If any single person in the chain doesn't like the project (or you), you have to start over.

Pros

If you are out of options and are stuck in the Sheboygan area, then work at Kohler. Benefits are good thanks to the union, including week off from Xmas through New Years plus vacation weeks. People take advantage of tuition reimbursement to finish degrees. Marquette offers an MBA program at Kohler. Many people work at Kohler for decades, so loyalty is high and expected. When you join, you are taken in and treated like family. People are friendly and welcoming.

Cons

Pay lags behind Milwaukee. Off the chart expectations with no support (financial, people, time, outside resources) makes it nearly impossible to earn high marks at review time. Work continued to pile up with no end in sight. Kohler employs an absurd review program that is cumbersome and nearly impossible to score well on. Management is lackluster and oddly closed-minded to new ideas. Company is run by a family that thinks it is royalty.

Pros

Kohler is a global corporate company with many facets of business that extend beyond the plumbing products. Still a family owned business, known in its industry for quality and innovative products.

Cons

Within management there seemed to be a disconnect on the importance of projects. Many times the most vital projects to an individual's metrics and measurable success were placed on the back burner for other 'hotter' projects. The result, a project being completed that was not originally on the performance plan while the project that was on the plan suffered therfore reducing personal performance. Where middle management should allow for these changes in project priority, it was not always the case. Also, located in small town Wisconsin where Kohler is one of the largest employers.
