Pros

I enjoy coaching, training, and developing associates and assistant managers. The company has been very loyal through my career over my years and have been very gratuitous to my development.

Cons

Currently I see the company going a different direction from where they were in years past, but not for the better of Kroger. I believe the current leadership is focusing on objectives that take away what is important to the customer, while adding more components that will not benefit sales and growth for the company.

Pros

Can establish good friendships and bond with your coworkers. Decent job for kids who need their first job.

Cons

- Constant unnecessary micromanagement - Rude customers occasionally, and you will get in trouble if you don't remain completely stoic while being screamed at. - Corporate mandates are constantly awful and filled with terrible ideas that only seek to give us unnecessary busy work and keep us from doing everything in a way that makes sense - Understaffed constantly due to corporate interference. They want to save money so the executives can line their pockets with a couple more millions dollars, rather than paying for more people and giving them higher pay. Meanwhile, people are pulled from their real departments to help the front end, who are constantly screaming into the PA for help. Shelves go empty because of the front end having too much power. Of course, this could all be solved by simply scheduling literally one or two more people for the day. - The company is cheap. Extremely cheap. Repairs to the store/equipment are rare. New equipment is rare. They refuse to pay a living wage and refuse to give us hazard pay during the Covid pandemic.
