Pros

Kroger has some of the brightest, kind and supportive people in the industry– especially in Design. It's not an easy company to work for and you will grow a ton by working there.

Cons

Low UX / design maturity. It's hard for designers to get a seat at the table- even if you can prove your worth and make tremendous impact. In the end, they are all about filling the pockets of the shareholders. In the end it doesn't matter how much money you make for them or how hard you work. You will be cut in a heart beat.

Pros

I've found no matter Kroger I work at that my coworkers are amazing and kind. Usually is flexible with my schedule and they offer tuition reimbursement.

Cons

I work in the Starbucks and they throw away any and all outdated food, they do not donate it. The thing is you can and will be fired for taking any of it home and you only get a 10% employee discount so in terms of store based benefits they aren't very good. Additionally I've worked at 2 different Kroger's now and I have to say that the management at both has been lacking. They are inattentive, inefficient, and insensitive. They usually don't schedule correctly or ignore any requests you try to make about your schedule even if you make them in advance. I usually have to get my reschedule for a week redone about once a month, oftentimes they leave it to me though to get someone to cover my shifts even if the reason my schedule is wrong is them. They refuse to work with you or even do basic parts of their job. It took me 4 week just to be transferred because my managers refused to email another store. It's incredibly frustrating to be on the opposite end constantly calling opposite stores and different stores to resolve an issue only to find out that the issue is your managers.
