New to Kroger, been here about a month and a half
Pros
-Unionized -Generally pleasant customers at my store -Never have to work past 9pm -Don't have to stand in one spot all day -Get to meet and work with a lot of awesome people from all walks of life -Good employee discount -Store management can be a bit overbearing but are overall nice enough -Personally I feel like the expectations of my job are very realistic, easy to set myself apart going the extra mile instead of management expecting perfection -OT pay rate for any time worked past 8 hours for the day, can't cut your hours late in the week to avoid overtime
Cons
-Pay is a bit low, wish they offered higher starting pay based on qualification/experience as I am a bit overqualified for the job but it's ok pay for how easy the job is -Must start out at part-time and work your way up to full-time, I get about 40 hours most weeks but sometimes only 25-30 which is hard but I get it, it's not an uncommon practice -If freshness checks fall behind, rotten produce can get really gross lol -Trash compactor outside stinks so bad I almost vomit every time
