Great Company

Pros

They have great benefits and bonus. Some good managers and teams.

Cons

Recent changes eliminated remote work flexibility despite many roles being fully capable of being performed remotely. This has made work life balance more challenging for employees managing families, caregiving responsibilities, and medical appointments. Leadership decisions sometimes feel disconnected from the day to day realities of employees who are balancing both professional and personal responsibilities. The higher ups are people that are much older and seem to loss touch of what being a parent means.

Typical retail

Pros

- Decent PTO and personal/sick day program - Lot of opportunities outside of being in stores; admin, specialists, operations, HR, warehouses, etc. Have to serve your time in stores first though. - You’ll meet a lot of good people

Cons

- No work life balance. 10-12 hour days, weekends, holidays, closing. Getting texts on your day off. - Long days of dealing with complaining people and chasing silly metrics. - Executive division management seems to be getting further and further away from reality. - The ASM salary probably isn’t enough to justify the pressure and stress. Walmart and Meijer both pay more to ASMs. If you’re going the retail route, you should lean more in their direction.
