Pros

1. Good benefits; 2. Great people to work with at the worker level, and great teamwork as well. Most people jump in to help when needed. This is especially true since the last big lay-off in Jan '09, when the remaining workers were asked to take on additional roles. 3. Work-life balance is pretty good.

Cons

1. Pay okay or slightly below the industry. 2. Senior Management - Most of us don't have a clue what is in the minds of our Senior Executives, as we wonder about the future of our company. News seems to be parceled out in very small snippets, leaving you to read "the writing on the wall" and "between the lines" and about what's to come; 3. Communication - It seems employees are being told what we want to hear about forward-looking strategy. It all sounds and looks nice on paper. But the same bad decisions are STILL being made over and over, keeping the company unprofitable. 4. American employees appear to be expendable, while Japanese seem to enjoy guaranteed long-term employment. US employees have been fearing for their jobs, with lay-offs occuring every year like clockwork. US employee input seems to be disregarded and ignored, over-ridden by Kyocera-Yokohama directives.

ultra low tier

Pros

Kyocera has lots of great people working there who strive for quality handsets in a timely fashion. Their dedication and good nature make the place fun to work, with a fairly relaxed atmosphere.

Cons

Management has "managed" this company to the ground by concentrating on things that do not yield better products; things like perfect 5S, RINGI, or its amoeba management style. They have consistently ignored and furthermore put roadblocks in front of things that would have made the company successful from within, in favor of lay-offs and ultra-conservative approaches to manufacturing and design. Kyocera has re-defined the meaning of ultra-low tier handsets through use of extreme cost-cutting measures and cookie-cutter like phones with no personality. Most of the time decisions get made because of cost not because of customer satisfaction.
